Hey team,
I am so excited about our new campaign! Building conversations is so important, I can’t wait to see what you all come up with!
When our customers enter our doors we don’t just hand them a pamphlet to read and learn about our company, we don’t turn our backs, hide from them, avoid eye-contact or act super busy. Why? Because we at Sunglass Style truly care about our customers.
Engaging in natural conversation is a great tool. This will help us find out what our customers want, need and will help create a great vibe in store.
Lets get this right team, practice makes perfect so lets start practicing our conversation starters in store TODAY. Here are a few to get you started however be creative with them I can’t wait to hear you use these lines in store and share with me your own amazing conversation starters!
- “I love your handbag where did you get it from?”
(Compliment them on their clothing or appearance. Everyone likes to be admired. Also, when they tell you where they got an item of clothing or that they just had their hair cut, that gives you something else you can talk about.)
- “Is it raining outside again?”
(Talk about the weather. If the sun is finally back out – use it. If it’s a horrible wet day talk about it.)
- “What brings you out nice and early today?”
(Use the time of the day. If it’s early and they’re one of the first few customers in the store. “You’re out nice and early today” maybe they just dropped their kids off and now have some time to themselves find out and talk about it.)
- “Did you hear … is coming to New Zealand?”
(Talk about any events coming up in your city, ask your customers if they’re attending or have they heard “…” is coming.) Know what’s happening in your area:
-Palmerston North: Festival of Cultures – Lantern and Parade on Friday 3rd-5th
-Wellington: Live Theatre: All’s Well that ends well – Summer Shakespeare Friday 3rd March. Jim Bean Home grown (celebrating their 10 year in the beautiful waterfront with 48 acts over 6 stages) Saturday 4th March @ the Suter Theatre.
- “Awh how old is she/he so cute…”
(Use customers children, customers love to talk about their children so lets get them talking)
Never be afraid to find out the person’s name – and use it. Use it early on and use it often. You will be viewed as caring and thoughtful.
Attached is Onehunga’s, New Market’s and Queen Street’s conversation boards, well done teams! I can’t wait to create more out there with you guys!
Have fun out there team!
